After reading the Seven Daughter’s of Eve book by Bryan Sykes I became a fan of his. I then read Adam’s Curse: The Science that Reveals our Genetic Destiny and I just finished reading another book of his, DNA USA A Genetic Portrait of America. His way of writing is so simple and helps the reader along complicated topics with ease.
This book is focused mainly in the autosomal DNA test which looks at all your 23 pairs of chromosomes. What I loved about the book was that he focused in a big part on Native American Ancestry and how DNA testing creates mixed feelings in them. He also talked about other ethnic groups that make up our beautiful country. He explained how our DNA makes some of us susceptible to some diseases and or immune disorders.
If you have Jewish Ancestry you will love this book since he covers this group in great detail. One of my favorite things was the chart that I found at the end of the book showing which regions of your chromosomes are responsible for 144 functions of our bodies.
He also goes into detail about how the painting of chromosomes came about and how useful it is to help us see our different ethnic background in a quick glance. Just like his other two books I highly recommend that you get this book. I picked up some other great pieces of knowledge and also learned about some great resources.

Description of the book by Amazon:
Crisscrossing the continent, a renowned geneticist provides a groundbreaking examination of America through its DNA.
Bryan Sykes, one of the world’s leading geneticists and best-selling author of The Seven Daughters of Eve, sets his sights on America, one of the most genetically variegated countries in the world. Sykes embarks on a road trip―DNA testing kit in tow―interviewing genealogists, anthropologists, and everyday Americans, tracing America’s history along a double helix that stretches from the last Ice Age to the present day. What emerges is an unprecedented look into America’s genetic mosaic that challenges the very notion of how we perceive race and what it means to be an American. 8 pages of color; 8 pages of black-and-white illustrations
